If you are planning on visiting Spain anytime soon then ETIAS will be mandatory for you. European Union has introduced a new visa waiver system called ETIAS, it is a new travel authorization system by Europe to ensure the safety of its borders. ETIAS will be in action from 1st January 1997. So people visiting Spain will be required to have sites to visit in Spain a valid ETIAS and they will only be granted permission to enter the Europe or Spain on the basis of that.

ETIAS stands for European Travel Information and Authorization System. It is not a visa but a new visa waiver system introduced by the European Union. There are a total of 26 countries in the world that are a member of the Schengen Border Area, they are called the Schengen Border Countries. Spain is one of them and therefore the citizens visiting will compulsory be needing this new visa waiver system for their hassle free visit through Spain. 

ETIAS are only needed by the travelers who were earlier allowed to have enter the European nations without having to acquire their visa. There are a total of 60 countries in the world that are allowed to enter and stay in the European countries as well as the countries belonging to the Schengen Area countries visa-free but now with the introduction of this new visa-waiver system, new travel regulations will be followed. 

ETIAS

The 26 countries falling under the Schengen Border Area are namely, Spain, Denmark, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Finland, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Greece, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, and Switzerland. 

The countries who always needed a visa to stay in Europe will not be affected by the launch of this new visa-waiver system by Europe. The travel authorization system will be the same for them as earlier. 

ETIAS Spain will be mandatory from 1st January 2021 to enter Spain as it is a member of the Schengen Area Border countries. The validity of your ETIAS will be of three years from the date of issue and it will permit you to stay in Europe for three months one at a time. During the period of these three months you will not need your visa. 

To apply for ETIAS you must fill the online application form present on the official site. It will ask you to fill the basic details and you should be having your ETIAS soon after that. You must have a valid passport to apply for ETIAS. Even though the validity of ETIAS is three years but they will expire as soon as the validity of your passport will be over. 

With the help of ETIAS you will be allowed to stay in the European nations for three months visa-free but only for four purposes like travel, business, transit and medical. Meaning that you can not visit Spain or other European countries for job or employment purposes.
